When burnt-out real estate agent Jeff is drawn off a hiking trail, he discovers a secret hiding in the Georgia mountains. A stone circle, guarded by a centuries-old witch, holds a danger as old as the mountains themselves. Despite his inability to believe that magic exists, Jeff is quickly pulled into a world full of it. Though he’s told he’s a witch, one meant to help guard a magical prison, he flees back to the city and the only life he’s ever known.

After cultists try to kill him, he has no choice but to retreat to the mountains, where he must learn to harness the powers he was born with. If he doesn’t, the same cult that targeted him will release Gurnov, the demon that’s been imprisoned in the circle for millennia. If they succeed, the world will end up covered in darkness and ice, ruled by a being more evil than any other on Earth.
